Camps
Our camp is broken up into four separate programs designed to meet the interests and abilities of all of our campers at their different age levels and abilities.
Youth Camp (4th -7th)
Youth Camp is for campers entering grades 4th-7th. They will focus on activities that build cabin unity, friendships, and wonderful memories. Each cabin will be made up of six to ten campers with at least two counselors of their same gender and one counselor in training. The cabin group will participate as a group in all of their camp activities. They will eat all meals together, plan campfires together, and share in all camp events.
Youth campers will have the opportunity to participate in the YMCA leather program which helps them to set personal goals related to being a good friend and being more in tune with their families and home life.
Our experienced staff understand the unique needs of our youngest campers and will create a safe and fun atmosphere where they each get the attention and nurturing that they need in order to have a great camp experience.
Intermediate Camp (8th-9th)
Intermediate Camp is specially designed for campers entering the 8th and 9th grades. Our counselors spend time focusing their attention on helping campers in areas of personal growth and interpersonal relationships. They will spend their week in their cabin groups, but will also be scheduled at activities with other cabins within their same age group. This allows campers to widen their sphere of friends, learn about others, and participate in larger group settings.
Campers will have the opportunity to participate in the YMCA leather or rag programs (depending on their age) where they will have the opportunity to take on personal challenges such as loyalty to country, and exploration of their own sets of values.
Cabin groups range from eight to ten campers with two counselors and at least one counselor in training. Our counselors understand the social expectations and challenges associated with this age group and work with their campers to insure successful, healthy, and respectful relationships. Intermediate camp is all about learning about yourself, making lasting friendships, and having a lot of fun.
Leaders in Training (10th-11th)
Our Leaders in Training program is for campers entering the 10th and 11th grades. Campers will be challenged to make new friends, learn about themselves, break out of their comfort zones, and have tons of fun.
LITs experience camp in a unique way. All day time activities will be in mixed groups, so campers will have the opportunity to bond with others outside of their cabin groups. They will also participate in more challenging personal and social activities than some of our younger campers.
Our most highly experienced staff run this program and are able to create an environment that promotes acceptance, bonding, lasting friendships, and personal growth.
LITs will have the opportunity to participate in the YMCA rag program where they may take on personal challenges focused in areas of loyalty, character values, service to others, and understanding of others.
LITs is all about building strong relationships, learning about yourself and having an unforgettable experience.
Counselor in Training (12th)
The Counselor in Training program is designed for campers entering the 12th grade and is by invitation only. This training program helps bridge the gap between camper and counselor. CITs will be assigned cabin groups and will participate as counselors during three of the four daily sessions. They will spend part of the day with their cabin group participating as an additional counselor and they will spend part of the day with the other CITs in training.
Our CITs get to benefit from extremely knowledgeable and experienced staff. They will each be assigned a staff member who will be there to encourage, lead, and support their learning.
