Our camp staff are all volunteers. Most started as campers in the program and have continued to come to camp for many years. They understand the impact that a week of camp can have on a child and they return each year in the hopes of sharing their experiences with a whole new group of campers.

Directors

Our directing team is lead by Rick Shima who was a camper himself over forty years ago and who has dedicated almost four decades of his life to planning and running this camp. He is a retired firefighter, father of three, and very proud grandfather. He and his wife Cindy have built this camp into one of the premier YMCA resident camp programs.

All of our directors boast at least 14 summers of camp. They continue to explore new activities that make each year of camp better than the last. The team includes youth development professionals, fire fighters, paramedics, social workers, medical professionals, school counselors and teachers.

Counselors

All counselors have passed fingerprint background checks, are CPR and First Aid certified, are over the age of 18, and have at least two years of camp experience. We fill each cabin group of ten campers with two of these highly qualified counselors.

Program Staff

In addition to our counselors and directors we also bring up a group of highly trained and specialized volunteers to work in specific areas. These positions have included two nurses, a lifeguard, arts & crafts specialists, photographers, archery instructors, nature craft specialists, music teachers, and community service coordinators.
